OMNI Trainees Celebrated in First Ever Pilots’ Graduation Ceremony
In a historic occasion, OMNI Aviation recognized pilot trainees who have completed their respective training courses during the first ever Pilots’ Graduation Ceremony held on September 10, 2019 at the Widus Clark Terra Hall. Guests and attendees were all smiles as the program was kicked off with the graduation march wherein the aspiring captains proudly donned their pilots’ uniforms. The graduates were awarded with completion certificates and ceremoniously bedecked with their Pilots’ Wings and Epaulets by their parents and loved ones.
“This is not the end but this is the mark of an amazing beginning,” Captain Eleazar M. Cayago reminded the graduates during his welcoming speech. The statement gleamed with the prospect of a promising career in the airline industry, as made possible by the partnerships between Omni and airline carriers in the Philippines, most notably AirAsia and Cebu Pacific.
Juneli Christian O. Cruz, one of the graduates, reiterated the fulfillment given by pilot training in his testimonial. “My journey in OMNI was not that easy. There were times that I wanted to give up. But because of the people surrounding me I still choose to fight. I chose this path and I believe I’m in the right track. There’s no limit on how far I could go, no boundaries, no lengths,” Cruz proclaimed. He was joined by five other trainees in sharing their #OMNIStory during the program.
First Officer Martin Villaflor of Cebu Pacific, an OMNI alumnus himself, graced the event as the guest speaker. As a bid to embolden the spirits of the young pilots before him, he related his own triumph over hardships throughout his career—from having to scour streets with his resume for job vacancies, to having to endure four months with no salary for a job as a flight instructor. His speech served as an affirmation for trainees for the path they are pursuing.
Also present were the friends and family of the graduates—including PAL Express Line Administrator, Ms. Ramona J. Salva who came to support her son, Francis Jose Maria Salva; and Brigadier General Eliseo DC Cruz, who was accompanied by his wife in celebrating the achievement of their children, Juneli Christian Cruz and Ciaeli Marie Cruz.
As the program came to a close, Mr. Steven Cesar G. Virata, OMNI Aviation’s President and COO, gave parting words of encouragement for the graduates, informing them of the bright future ahead of them, ahead of the training center, and ahead of the aviation industry.
