AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION AND CAREER ORIENTATION HELD FOR OMNI PILOT TRAINEES
As part of a slowly-built tradition in OMNI Aviation, trainees were gathered to take part in this year’s Aircraft Recognition and Career Orientation program held on October 17, 2019. The activity is part of the Trainee Welfare Program implemented by the OMNI Airline Training Academy. The aim is to foster a trainee-centered culture and provide activities and engagements that support and enrich the training given to enrollees.
Participants joined in a friendly battle to test and showcase their wit and knowledge on aircraft and aviation general information. Interspersed with the competition were inspiring talks from OMNI Aviation alumni, Captain Mark Anthonie Caburian and Captain Ariel Kirby Foronda, both of whom are now flying with Philippine Airlines. Captain Caburian shared tips, tricks, and pointers on winging a pilot career. On the other hand, Captain Foronda emphasized the importance of safety and situational awareness in flying.
At the end of the program, a group of five trainees was hailed as the champion of the event. They were awarded with prizes which included one hour of free flight. All the attendees were also given tokens for their participation. Michael Joshua Andrade, an OMNI trainee under the GenAv Plus course, shared his thoughts on the event, saying: “The program was fun and a complete success. I hope to encounter many more like it.”
